5 Books That Transformed My Life

Growth | 0 comments

I find it difficult to read a book cover to cover these days. This is due to a shortened attention span from the short articles and IG posts I’m inundated with on the daily.

Regardless of this fact, I thoroughly enjoy settling in with a good book and there are a few that have been pivotal throughout the last six years in my journey of self-discovery, emotional intelligence and personal growth.

Some people read to confirm their own hopelessness. Others read to be rescued from it.
~ Anais Nin
7 Habits of Highly Effective People

An oldie but a goodie. This book was the first one I read (and have since re-read a number of times) on living a more effective life.

I found it helpful to read it at various times in my life because as I matured and went through the various life experiences I was able to gain new insights each time.

The Gifts of Imperfection

This was the second book I read that started me on the path to deepening my knowledge of emotional intelligence…. before I even knew what emotional intelligence was!

The Four Agreements

Another one that was recommended to me early on in my journey of self-discovery.

This book gives you a framework to minimize self-limiting beliefs that keep us from achieving our true potential.

Nonviolent Communication

I used to think I was a pretty good communicator until I realized I had some things to learn (after a series of challenging life events).

This book gives us a really simple framework to build upon for more challenging conversations.

Emotional Intelligence and Your Success

This book allowed me to deepen my knowledge of the 5 composite scales and the 15 sub-scales of emotional intelligence. Each of my coaching clients receives a copy of this book as part of their coaching package.
